Organist/Pianist – St. Michael’s, Colonie
Summary: St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Colonie, New York seeks a capable organist/pianist to support the worship of the congregation, on either its small Allen organ or Clavinova keyboard, with suitable accompaniment for hymns and service music on Sunday mornings.
Capabilities: Classical training is necessary, and familiarity with the Anglican/Episcopal liturgical tradition is helpful. Experience with contemporary and gospel styles is welcome but not required.
Requirements: The organist/pianist will accompany music for one service on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., with hymns and service music mostly from The Hymnal 1982. Music will typically include 3–4 hymn selections weekly, along with service music which rotates seasonally. A few times a year, services with music may be held at times other than Sunday mornings, e.g. at Christmas and during Holy Week.
Stipend: A per-service stipend of $120 is offered.
Safeguarding: Following the teachings of Jesus, St. Michael’s takes seriously our responsibility to provide a safe and healthy physical and spiritual environment for the young, aged, and vulnerable in our congregation. All clergy, employees, lay leaders, and volunteers may be required to undergo criminal background checks and complete
safeguarding training appropriate to their role. However, a criminal conviction if disclosed is not necessarily a barrier to employment.

We value traditional Anglican Hymnody, and possess a small pipe organ which was rebuilt by a previous rector.
