Pierogi Making, January 31
Who knew that the humble pierogi would bring us together for a delightful social event?
The sounds of discussion and laughter pervaded Begley Hall, St. Stephen’s Episcopal church, Schenectady, on January 31st, as a group of ENYAGO members and St. Stephen’s parishioners enjoyed the first-ever ENYAGO “Making Pierogi” event. Under the guidance of Susan Sady and her husband Dariusz, we made scores of pierogi and consumed them with enthusiasm. To add to the ambiance, Al Fedak played a recording of Polish organ music from his St. Stanislaus concert last fall.
Making and eating pierogi proved to be a great catalyst for catching up with old friends and making new ones. Surprisingly, previous connections came to light between organists and St. Stephen’s parishioners. Our heartfelt thanks to Susan and Dariusz Sady for giving their time, talents, and ingredients. This event would not have been possible without their experience and willingness to share. Now we know where to buy dried wild Polish mushrooms! Thanks to Joan Pearson for conceiving of this event and helping to plan it. Thanks to Joan, her sister Marilyn, and Douglas Lohnas for their tireless work to make the event run smoothly.
